American-German actress and model Malina Weissman was born on March 12, 2003 in New York City, New York, USA. She started her modeling career at the age of eight, following in the footsteps of her mother. Malina could be seen in advertising campaigns for top brands such as Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Benetton and Levi’s. One of her favorite shoots was for Old Navy, where they had a huge trampoline for her to jump on. However, Malina quickly expressed that she also wanted to try out acting. Between 2012 and 2014, Malina has appeared in commercials for Maybelline, Purell, ACT Mouthwash and My Little Pony.

Malina finally celebrated her film debut in 2014, when she appeared in the science fiction action comedy film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as the younger version of Megan Fox’ character, April O’Neil. A year later, in 2015, Malina could be seen in two episodes of the television series Difficult People as Renee Epstein, the daughter of one of the main characters of the series. Malina’s big break-through came in 2016, when the feature film Nine Lives was released, in which she played Kevin Spacey’s on-screen daughter Rebecca Brand alongside well-known actress Jennifer Garner. For the film Malina got to work with cats, which

she absolutely adored. She is a huge animal lover and dreams of becoming a veterinarian, besides being an actress of course. After Nine Lives, Malina could be seen in another hit television series. She booked a recurring role in Supergirl, again as the younger version of the main character, Kara Zor-El. Malina loved doing her own stunts, as a younger version of Supergirl she learned how to fly using harnesses. Another thing she enjoyed about her role was being the ‘savior‘. Malina appeared in short flashback scenes in a total eight episodes, but was unable to continue working on the series due to her biggest project to date yet.

In 2016, after a worldwide casting call and several auditions, Malina was finally announced to portray the smart and driven Violet Baudelaire in the highly anticipated television series A Series of Unfortunate Events produced by Netflix. Malina was super excited when she got the role, as she had read the books prior to auditioning. She connected to her character immediatly and wanted Violet to be seen as a role model. Malina loves how inventive Violet is since she also loves art and to create things, so creativity is the main thing they have in common. The series was recently renewed for a second and third season.

Outside of the entertainment industry, Malina is trying to preserve an ordinary teenage life as much as possible. Malina is currently in 9th grade and is working hard to keep her grades up, so she can continue to stand in front of the camera. Whenever she is not acting, modeling or doing school work, Malina likes to keep herself busy with dancing, reading, horseback riding and swimming. Just like any other girl at her age, Malina also loves binge watching tv series such as Gilmore Girls and spending time with her friends. She still lives in New York City, USA with her parents, who are supporting Malina in every way they can.
